Title: Golden Flash gold paintwork.
Post by: Steverat on 04 Sep, 2018, 20:49
Hello Gents,
We are restoring a 1951 A10 and debating whether to paint it gold. Was the gold colour already available in 1951? I have seen numerous comments about how it can go wrong. Who in the UK would do the best on making a really gleaming paint job?

After a bit of searching, I do not think that the 1951 A10 was ever supplied in gold.  Also the RS Paints website lists show that the three colour choices for this machine were Black, Nutley Blue, or Polychromatic Silver Beige Pearl (which is similar to gold in some lights). The black machine did have gold lining.  Attached are some examples off the net.  Mine is a 54 S/A in the Beige so I am using the third picture as a "target".

For 1951 the standard colour was black and the option was beige at extra price.

The nutley blue option came with the 1960 seaon GA7 framed models for the UK market.

Unfortunately RS not always accurate.

Below from the 1951 catalogue.
