Title: Another sppedo
Post by: Phil C on 31 Aug, 2018, 16:07
The speedo on my 1965 B40F appears to be ridiculously optimistic. I'd like to keep it, but how do I find out why it thinks I'm going a lot faster than I am, and then correrct it?   Phil.

Worn old speedo. There is a spring attached to the indicator needle. If this is weak, it will read high.
For a proper job you will have to send it to one of the speedo repair places - Old Bike Mart lists several.
It is not cheap though to have one rebuilt and recalibrated!

Any very rough idea of cost?

I don't think there are set repair costs. Depends on what needs doing but I would think anything from £50 upwards. Best give them a ring and have a chat. If you haven't got a copy of OBM or access to any repairers details let me know and I will post some contact details.
