Hello all, newbie here. I,m resurrecting a recently purchased c11 with snapped crankpin ( big end) . On stripping the engine i noticed the teeth on the oil pump drive shaft to be concave as opposed to the straight cut gears on the ones Ive seen for sale on ebay etc. Is this normal/ variation etc. Any advice on alternatives to Alpha bearings? I dont have much confidence in getting the job done under the current circumstances.

Hiya
The teeth on my 1954 C11 look to be straight....
Thnx Beenyboy
Ive got a bottom end given to cannabalise and it has a bit of wear on the oil pump drive spindle but not much. My pump rotates freely so I cant see it being rsistance wear. I will check to see if it contacts the drive pinion when I reasssemble. The bigend was completely blocked with sludge on mine and the new one seems ok tho the oilways are so narrow I dont know how they dont get blocked more often! I,m cobbling one good engine from the two. My crankcases are badly marked internally even down to the circlip groove on the drive side bearing being so badly damaged that the bearing has been held in place with four screws! I,m loathed to change the cases and consequently the engine number even though the cases from the newly obtained engine are much nicer than the originals.
Dont know about your oil pump but do know that your casings can be built up with weld and machined back to original . Just done it on the mag mount of a dbd 34 engine which was badly worn .
