Title: BSA 1928 Sloper GEARBOX 3 speed
Post by: Sloper1928 on 31 Jul, 2018, 13:39
hello everybody,
Sorry for my bad english at the beginning! :-X

I bought nice Sloper from 1928 from England last year. Let´s sey that it was my drem.
I rode more than 500 km around my house and the bike was perfect

Last week I Had a defect and I found out that my gear box is totally demaged.
unfortunately I have a gear box what was used at the beginning of Sloper production.
at first glance, there is a difference in the size of the BSA 3 speed aluminum mark on the rear of the transmission. newer pieces have a window below the mark. Older one does not have a window under the smaller aluminium mark.

Can anyone advise where can I buy it - Ebay or? Was this gear produced on another motorcycle? Can I buy individual gears as a spare?

thank you very much for any responses!

Keep a watch on ebay, i saw a 1920's 3 speed gearbox last week go for £70, it wasn't perfect but would have done the job!

You could try these people:  http://www.cornucopia-enterprises.de   They have a range of vintage BSA spares.

What caused the gear teeth to break off - did the gear box jam, if so, why ?

It would be possible, but not cheap, to get replacement gears made, provided you can fix whatever caused the damage.

Cheers,
Bevan

Hi DEREKANDERSON8,
I have never seen this qearbox 3 speed but yes I will check Ebuy. Add one picture where can see the back "different" part of smaller aluminium mark. Thank you

Hi BEVANC,
Thanks I will contact them.
What was the root cause? I Really do not know. There was enough oil. Probably the root cause is here age
