Title: Alternator
Post by: Phil C on 29 Jul, 2018, 15:43
Hello everyone, Offering up my primary chaincase cover to refit it (1965 B40F), I have broken off a piece of material from the outside of one of the coils (insulating sheet?)  Please see photos attached.  Another one of the coils appears to have suffered a similar fate (can't be seen on the photo) but whether that was me or whether it was done previously I don't know (didn't find the broken bit for that one and have only just noticed it.)

Anyway, my question is: does it matter? And if so, what should I do about it (other than be more careful next time!)

Thanks in advance.   Phil.

Should cause any problem so long as the coil windings are not damaged. A lot of old stators look like that!!

Hopefully you missed out the worn "not"!  Thanks very much, Julian, that's a relief.   Phil.
