Title: brake drum locking washers
Post by: AdrianS on 23 Jul, 2018, 13:53
I really need some new locking washers, part 40-6023 for my B40 rear brake drum. However at £12 of fleabay and £2 from Draganfly plus £4 postage, I think they are vastly overpriced for what they are!
Has anyone made their own? if so what thickness steel did you use? Havent taken the drum off so cannot check what the original thickness is but would like to get some sheet in before dismantling.

ps. has anyone omitted them and just locktited the bolts in?

The reason I've got to remove the drum is since the rebuild I have a slight hammering on the brake pedal when gently pressing the rear brake. The drum and sprocket is new and I just want to check that it is centered properly on the hub.

Just measured one that I took off at 0.05" or roughly 1.2mm.

cheers - quite thick. I was looking at some sheet I have that's 0.6 mm thick and that's quite hard to bend!

To be honest, I'd have thought that would work, especially if it's locktited as well. After all, we're talking about vibration, not resisting significant torque.
