Title: Rear brake lever lock nut.
Post by: DOIVEY on 10 Jul, 2018, 21:52
Hi All,

I'm looking for a lefthand thread lock nut for a B20 part no. EB171/6 according to Mr Main-Smiths parts book.
its a half nut so not so thick, i'm not sure of the thread either.
I've tried Dragonfly (very helpful) but to no avail.
does anyone have any leads to any suppliers.
quite difficult to search on the inter web as i don't know the thread.
any info gratefully recieved.
Thanks in advance
Doive

A lot of these part numbers were changed in the early 1950s.

EB 171 became 02 - 440.  That is a 7/16 cycle thread. Could be 20tpi or 26tpi.

Dont know about EB171/6.

What year is the bike and which page in the parts book?

The /6 suffix indicates a rust proof black finish.

Below is the parts bulletin from 1952 giving the revised part number. Showing without finish suffix when used as a rocker nut.

Hi Julian,

its for a 1937 B20
on page 126 of the 1937 illustrated edition.

i measured the diameter of the spigot and it is 7/16'' not 26tpi though its more coarse than that

thanks for the info

will launch a search using the 1952 suffix.

Thanks

I found a supplier of 7/16 LH thread Half nuts.

It is https://www.tmrsupplies.co.uk/products/716-unf-lh-lockhalf-nut-ln7l/
