Post by: CLIVEDACKUS on 29 Jun, 2018, 17:35
Hi all

How much engine do you have to remove to get to the oil pump please?

You need to remove both the outer and inner timing covers since the oil pump is bolted to the RH crankcase. To remove the pump, you'll first need to take off the drive gear on the end of the crankshaft.

Can the gearbox stay in place?

Unfortunately, the inner timing cover also provides the end plate for the gearbox and so you'll need to remove the kickstart mechanism and remove the camplate pivot depending on which unit single it is before you can remove the inner timing cover.
