Title: Unusual carb
Post by: BEVANC on 24 Jun, 2018, 08:53
Hi folks,

The carb on my 1929 500cc ohv Sloper has "6/024" stamped on the underside of its flange which I think is consistent with the type 6 specified for the bike.  However, every picture & diagram of a type 6 I have seen has a throttle stop, yet mine does not - see attached photo.  it only has a mixture screw.

Anyone come across this type before ?  is it  actually an AMAL carb ?

Cheers,
Bevan

The early type 6 did not have a throttle stop.

Below from 1929 Amal Hints and Tips booklet.

Parts list from same publication.

Your carb looks right for 1929.

Great stuff, thanks Julian.

The carb has a later float bowl, but otherwise seems in remarkably good condition for its age.
