Title: D14/4 Alternator wiring
Post by: Y13 Alan G on 13 Apr, 2018, 16:48
The wires coming from my 1968 D14/4 Bantam alternator are:White/Green stripe, Dark Green/Black stripe & Green/Yellow stripe. The workshop manual wiring diagram shows: Yellow, Light Green & Orange. Does anyone know which of the alternator wires correspond to the wiring diagram. Help appreciated

Your alternator has Lucas standard 3 wire stator colours.

The D14 had a Wipac alternator with the colours shown in the manual.

Something not quite correct here.

Please post a photo of your setup.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately the wiring on my Bantam has burnt out due to a short circuit so no photo possible (even if I knew how to do it).

You seem to have a Lucas rather than Wipac alternator. The wiring equivalence is:

Function                    Lucas               Wipac
COM:                    White/Green      Light Green
2 x Pair of Coils:     Green/Yellow      Orange
1 x Pair of Coils:     Green Black         Yellow
