Title: 1965 Lightning coil mounting
Post by: LightningJames on 17 Mar, 2018, 14:22
Evening all.

Well I have finally bought an EI for my 1965 lightning. My original points mechanism got so worn I couldn't do a lot with it.

I have bought a Pazon with a dual output coil.

Do you see any problem with me mounting the coil and the ignition box in my tool box tray behind the rhs side panel? It would be tidy and out of sight, I just worry about heat from the oil tank and enough airflow?

Any help and advice would be gladly appreciated!

Many thanks

Hi James,
The Rover K series engine have the 'coil packs' which are the same kind of thing under the plastic cover on top of the engine and it must get pretty hot in there so it will probably be OK. However, a quick email to Pazon might be a good idea.

Thanks Chris. A good point !
Hope to see you at the Hampshire pub meets soon. My wife has changed her work hours so I should hopefully be free!
