Title: B31 1950 Rigid- fork oil seal replacement and overhaul- odd spring spacer found
Post by: martinevans on 18 Feb, 2018, 16:47
Hi all,

I just stripped the front forks down (now drinking a well earned cup of tea and resting my arms!) all's well but I found some steel spacers about an inch high have been put in at the top of the springs. Has anyone come across this or know what the advantage/disadvantage is?

I'm also looking at replacing the springs with some progressive ones and adding the double damping upgrade - has anybody done the same with good results?

Thanks in advance,

Martin

Probably just preloading up old saggy springs

Thanks Andy,

I think I'll give some new progressive springs a try, I haven't seen any bad reviews and I'll save some weight getting rid of those big old spacers  :D
