Title: 1970 A65 Rear engine mounting bolts
Post by: watts on 24 Sep, 2026, 07:38
I am having trouble getting the lower bolt which goes through the casing and mounting plate to go in. The spear not enough space for the bolt to line up to be straight enough to go in.  It is it (14-0224) 5/16" UNF 2.75" If I shorten it to 2.5" it does but is too short for a nut and washer.

AM I being dim but I cannot see away to get it in. The gearbox sprocket is off and everything else I can take off.

Thanks.

Checked on my blog and I've replaced all of the bolts for stainless and the one your talking about is m8 so it may be that the smaller diameter is just enough to allow it to go in.
