Title: a65 cylinder barrel nuts
Post by: Ralphy2 on 18 Jul, 2026, 11:51
What's the general opinion on fitting washers under the cylinder barrel nuts on an A65, as far as I know they were not fitted when new?  cheers, Ralphy

Good engineering to fit washers on any head, but particularly  on  alloy heads to prevent distortion around the nut seating.

Hi,

Definitely washers. They help to protect paint and look more finished than just a nut.

Dave.

In '71 the nuts were changed to a washer base type. Still. better to use a washer as turning the nut against paint will change the torque depending upon the hardness and thickness of the paint.
