Title: B22 chain size
Post by: yosemite on 05 Jul, 2026, 18:05
Hi
Can anyone tell me the correct chain size  modern equivalent for 1937 B22 chain, cant see it in parts list, but instruction book says it should be 1/2 x .305" .
Been googling various chain sizes all afternoon, nearest seems to be bs08b-1, but not sure of roller sizes
tried a 1/2 x 5/16 chain on sprocket but rollers did not seem to sit properly

Hello

Could it be 420 chain that you are looking for. There is 0.5 and 0.305.  1/2 x 5/16 is 428 chain.

Chain Size: 420
Pitch (P): 0.500"
Roller Width (W): 0.250"
Roller Diameter (D): 0.305"

Feked.com says:
"
125EBSR 1/2" x 3/16" (P x W) standard 420 chain equivalent to Renold 110044.
Standard roller final drive rear chain.
Note: the 420 chain measures closer to 1/4" between plates, the 415 chain is closer to 3/16"

1/2 x .305 is a common size - used on A7/A10 swinging arm primary - and should be readily available.

Got a length of bs08b-1 and checked fit on sprockets ,seems good, primary chain from a different model may have worked on primary, but would have been too short for final drive. Will be a couple of days before I can get it  fitted though.
