Title: C15 clutch lever
Post by: phill on 11 Jan, 2018, 20:03
Hi,
I have a 1960 C15. In the parts manual it shows a ball bearing (40-3071) that goes into the clutch lever (40-3066). Mine doesn't have the ball bearing and it doesn't really look like its supposed to have - the lever where the ball would go in is not concave shaped nor is the part that it presses against. Do some models not have this ball bearing? What is the purpose of it? Hopefully there are photos attached.

Many thanks,
Phil

The ball bearing goes into the clutch lever cup - it's there to provide minimum resistance to the rotating clutch rod.

The interesting thing about the early C15s is that the engine was essentially a modified Triumph Tiger Cub engine with the clutch mechanism being more or less the same. This was later replaced by the rack and pinion mechanism. As with the Tiger Cub, the ball bearing required for the older clutch lever is 5/32" in diameter.

OK, thanks Thumper - I will get a ball bearing and see if I can get it in.
