Title: 6v to 12v
Post by: Mikey82 on 28 May, 2026, 08:06
My Golden Flash is running on 6v and I would like to upgrade to 12v

It has a dvr2 regulator rectifier

Dynamo and magneto

Also 6-24w LED bulbs

Other than disconnect white wire from DVR 2 regulator, buy a 12v battery and maybe flash Dynamo is there anything else I need to do?

Will I need to get the SRM belt drive for the Dynamo to increase Dynamo output?

No need to flash the dynamo unless you are changing the polarity.  If you have LED bulbs many are now both 6v and 12v.
I would call going from 6v to 12v and change but is not an upgrade as you trade off better lights (well not any more with the new LEDS) for a higher RPM before you start charging.  One of my bikes is on 12V and the other 6V and there's no advantages either way that I can see now the headlamp issue is sorted.
