Title: C15 Heavyweight fork front brake cable anchor
Post by: createscript on 14 Apr, 2026, 19:06
I have a bit of a conundrum. Having located a pair of heavyweight sliders (with caps)in good nick for my C15T conversion with FW hub front wheel (sold as C15 parts), I discovered that they are B40 (L 42-5141, R 41-5025) not C15 (40-5074, R 40-5075) as the lugs are drilled for mudguard stays. I don't think this is a problem as they are variants of the same slider and the brake stop lug fits the 6" front brake plate.
However, I'm at a loss as to how the front brake cable outer should be anchored at the lower end. On the standard road fork sliders an adjuster screws into a drilling on the rear mudguard stay mounting lug. Looking at photos of a genuine C15 heavyweight fork slider I can just see that there is a similar drilling for the adjuster.  However, there certainly isn't such a thing on my B40 slider (R 41-5025). So how should the front brake cable be anchored on a B40 as there surely must be some kind of anchor. Is there another part that attaches to the lug that I can't find listed? I've checked in the Rupert Ratio books for ages and am none the wiser.
Any suggestions?

Hi,

I think the B40 has the cable stop as part of the fulcrum for the brake shoes.

Try 42-5885 plus the nut. You'll need an adjuster on the handlebar lever.  Not sure whether its a straight swap or if you have to drill the brake plate.

Thanks all,
That makes a great deal of sense. I'dve spotted that sooner had I had a B40 parts book. Hoping the fulcrum pin works on the 6" back plate
