Post by: chrisx1 on 11 Feb, 2026, 13:54
Can any one tell me which oil pressure switch I need for a 1968 A65 engine. is it tapered or parallel ?

68 did not have an oil pressure switch. These were fitted from the 69 model season (which to be fair was from around September 1968)

A 69 season bike had a tapered switch. By 1970 season, the factory realised it caused more problems than it solved, with damaged threads and fitted a parallel thread switch.

Incase any cases have been changed, you need to verify the cases are legit and not restamps or replacement cases with factory stampings.

A 70 on case will have a milled circle around the inlet port, this is for a crushable copper washer to seat against. From memory the 69 cases don't have this as the threads seal, not the face of the switch body.
