Title: Error on my V5c
Post by: cbranni on 05 Feb, 2026, 19:33
Hi everyone

I have had my 1960 A10 since 2022 and today I found an issue with the frame number in the V5c, the prefix is GAY but it should be GA7, how do I go about correcting and what do I need to supply to the DVLA. I imagine this goes back to the start of the DVLA when RF 60 details were copied over onto computer, the Y is very near to the 7 on a qwerty keyboard..... it did happen a lot

Kind regards Colin

It's a can of worms you really don't want to open with the DVLA.
Just point out the error if/when you come to sell it. Most buyers will understand, given how useless and slapdash the DVLA are/were..

Colin
If you want to try to update the V5C then we (Machine Dating officers) can help with supporting information to confirm CA7 prefix.  We would need to confirm the numbers are as you say and are factory stampings.  Probably best if you email datinginfo@bsaownersclub.co.uk with pictures of frame number and we can take it from there / discuss what else might be needed.
