Title: water in fuel
Post by: nablats on 15 Jan, 2026, 21:00
I have had trouble with poor starting, which I am sure is down to water in the tank (as well as rust particles) which appear in the float bowl drain.
I will persist with tank cleaning, (now trying the nut and bolt swilling method). Has anyone fitted the Fast Eddy Float Bowl Drain Valve?, I thought it could be a quick roadside crud/water expulsion method.

Hi,

Once you have cleaned the tank then the water should not be a problem.  You may get a bit of condensation if your bike is in a very damp shed. It may also be possible that you got some fuel with water already in it.
If you are in the UK the postage will probably be as much as the item if you get it shipped at all.
Why not try a decent size transparent fuel filter set so that it is below the carb.  Any water in the fuel will go to the lowest point and will be easy to see.

Dave.

For that price I'd just loosen the carb drain.

thanks all, spent my money on decent inline filters (with magnets apparently) also made a snug fitting piece of flat to remove the drain plug.

Keep the fuel tank as full as you can. The lower the air space, the lower the condensation.
