Title: Export records
Post by: Arch on 13 Jan, 2026, 21:52
I bought most of an A65F engine at the Newark auto jumble in the mid-1990s. The engine number indicates it dates to May 1969. The seller said it had been brought back from South Africa. Is there any way of checking its provenance?

Thanks very much and sorry about the delay in getting back. The crankcase number is EC 22350 A65F.

Hi Arch ... that was a Firebird which went to Scholefield Goodman, Birmingham in June 69.  Scholefield Goodman were export agents who defintiely exported to New Zealand and possibly to South Africa.  They were also agents for BSA Guns.

Thanks very much. The orange sand coating the seized engine when I bought it certainly suggested foreign climes. I bought it in ignorance, thinking it would be a good source of spares for my OIF Thunderbolt, but, of course, learnt that virtually everything is different. I'll advertise it shortly. Cheers.
