Is there supposed to be a long and short fuel tap on a B50? If there is, how does the fuel get from one side of the fuel tank to the other when fuel is under the the intake of the long fuel tap side? Does it rely on bumping around and splashing over the hump?

Long one is normal feed (I put on right side next to carb tickler. Short one is reserve, I put on left so that when you're low (ie fuel starvation splutter you can switch reserve on with non throttle hand on the move).
Typically worth a trial of filling the tank slowly with only reserve tap off to work out how much juice in main supply and how much in reserve.
"Does it rely on bumping around and splashing over the hump? " - yes. Also falling on the left side.
