Title: Kickstarter not returning
Post by: chrisx1 on 08 Jan, 2026, 11:15
The kick starter often fails to return on my A65 is this due to wear on the starter shaft?

Hi,

When it does return, does it spring back easily or is it sluggish and does it sit firmly against the stop. The spring may a bit tired otherwise it could be catching on the casing. To check this the outer case must be removed. Witness marks should give clue as to what happening.

Dave.

Also lube both ends of the kickstart shaft. The ends run in steel bushings with no lubrication other than what gear oil might find its way there. Same with the clutch lifter pin and shift shaft. If you tip the bike far over on the right side occasionally and hold it there for about a minute, gear oil will flow into the inner case and get to the parts. A little might come out the lift pin hole if held too long.
