New member here, currently have 1967 B44ss, imported back from USA sometime in the past. Since getting it this year, I've sorted electrics, overhauled clutch, brakes and engine top end. Also replaced composite tank with steel one from India, although not the best.
Tank was painted by an expert in Ellsmere Port.
Look forward to any help tips or local runs
All the best for new year
PS..this is my second one, I had a brand new one in 1969!

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum and your return to BSAs.  If you have joined the BSAOC there are contact details towards the back of The Star for all the local Branches.
Warrington will be the closest to you.

Dave.

Hi Flat Tyre,

Looks really nice.  I also have a 1967 B44 Victor Roadster (Shooting Star) on the road at present, repatriated from the USA in 2014.  I had to install a new steel "Indian" tank too - shame they don't seem to get their dimensions right isn't it?  We had a right job getting it to sit on the frame snuggly with rubbers.  Best bike that BSA ever made - though others would argue to the contrary!

Hello B44RVictor

Thanks for the comments, I agree regarding the Indian supplied steel tank, quality is marginal, actual fitment is poor. Like you, I had it on and off trying to get the best fit with rubber cushioning, without it touching other components. Still not 100% happy with it, as centre holding point through tank doesn't line up correctly. Still have original tank, weeps a bit though!
Safe riding!
