Title: BSA B31 missing nut
Post by: briancairns on 13 Dec, 2025, 16:16
Hi,
I was checking bike over today and noticed a missing nut from a bolt which was coming out of engine casing just below the points cap.
Does anyone know what bolt is for ? and the size of a  replacement nut?
Thanks in advance
Brian

Looks like a 3/8 cycle thread.

I believe it's 5/16 cycle. The bolt has two purposes,  it provides an attachment point for the rear mag/dyno strap but also contributes to clamping the two crankcase halves together.

Close! But no cigar.
