I was sorting through some old photos the other day when I came across this one of my A50 (477 WDH) on a marathon trip with my mate Steve to the Nordkapp in Norway in 1972. Harwich-Hook of Holland ferry, stopped off at Kiel for the Olympic sailing, then some spectacular riding via Denmark (no bridges in those days), Sweden and fjord land - lots of dirt roads (before North Sea oil).
Reason for the non-standard forks and front wheel is a careless driver a couple of years earlier and me, a poor student, having to make do with secondhand parts!! I hand-painted it the following winter, but it appears from gov.uk that it may have been returned to the original pale metallic green.
I should dearly love to see it again, so if you are the owner, or you know who owns it, please get in touch.
Hi,
Fantastic photo. Do you have any more of that trip? A write up for the The Star would be great.
My wife on a "51 Flash and me on a'68 Thunderbolt did that trip in 2003. Thankfully no dirt roads.
Dave.
