Title: BSA C15 (1961) Rear Shocks, Which ones and where from ?.
Post by: Paul1961C15 on 16 Oct, 2025, 17:17
Hi,
I went to buy a couple of bits for a bike and came away with a complete (95%) June 1961 BSA C15 in boxes.
It had been put in a shed/garage in 1965 which is where it stayed until the owner passed way a couple of years ago. The family offered it to the guy I purchased it from as they were aware he was into bikes.
He has rebuilt the engine and done a lot of restoration work but run out time and enthusiasm which is where I stumbled into the picture.
I have now started putting it back together but I have run up against what rear shocks should it have and where can I get them.
The books say 1961 should have 10.5 and the one (solid) one I have seems to be 10.5 but I can only see 11.9 for sale which most websites say will fit 1959 to 1967 ?.
I am confused.
Can someone please confirm which size rear shocks the bike should have and where I can buy some with the full shrouds as I want to keep it as standard looking.

The original buff log book and the last tax disc came with the bike which both support it being taken off the road by the third owner in 1965
Thanks for help / advise.

I had the same issue with my C15 - the suppliers only had 11.5" which upsets the centre stand etc.
i eventually found a decent pair of 10.5" but I think this chap may help you--
