Hi,
My B40 build is progressing, alloy mudguards on, carb fitted etc.
It's to have an off-road look with genuine alloy tank although with road biased gearing.
It's a swan neck frame and I have a high level exhaust which will fit inside the rear subframe, doing this will however put it in between the oil pipes and I'm a bit concerned about cooking them!
Has anyone fitted such a pipe on a swan necked frame?
I've seen a metal wrap on some oil pipes, any ideas where I could get that?
Thanks
I had a similar problem on my B44.
The oil pipes seemed to be a little too close for comfort.
I purchased a small roll of the woven heat resistant tape that they wrap around the header pipes on bobbers and custom bikes to prevent them from burning their designer jeans.
I bought it off EBay and it came with stainless cable ties.
Thanks Andy.
Silly question but did you wrap the exhaust or the oil pipes?
Regards
You warp the exhaust and you can also put steel springs around the oil pipes. A10 have the steel springs as std.
It's been suggested that I could replace a section of the return pipe in metal (copper?) with shorter lengths of rubber joining the two ends to the engine/oil tank.
Has anyone done this?
TIA

Early bikes (30s to early 50s)had this arrangement with copper pipe. In fact in my Goldie bitza I have a remote filter (off a Commando) in my tool box. I used copper/nickel pipe (does not work harden like pure copper) carefully shaped to avoid rubs and rubber pipe on the ends. I did add over wraps of pipe in a couple of strategic areas and rubber grommets through the box holes.
Thanks Neil
What diameter pipe is best? Will 1/4" OD brake pipe do the job?
Thanks again.
