Title: WANTED - B44R or Starfire (USA Shooting Star) fuel tank 1967/1968 steel.
Post by: B44R Victor on 22 Aug, 2025, 11:34
My GRP 1967 B44R Victor Roadster (USA) fuel tank has finally split a seam at the front and I think its had-it.  I'm trying to obtain a BSA manufactured (USA) tank if I can, just as long as it's in good condition and usable.  I'm happy to clean it out, re-line it and get it resprayed Peony Red and Ivory with gold trim.  It would be going to a good home on a bike that's used on the road fairly regularly during the Summer months.  Can anyone help please?

On the Dominic Chinea videos where he was messing with an old Triumph he had a brand new tank made by a company in Wales. They seemed to have templates for every type of tank. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hVdC9ScUx0&ab_channel=DominicChinea

Tab Classics.
He didn't mention the price.

The other thought is trying one of the importers who push their wares on ebay.  If you search for 1967 BSA A65T THUNDERBOLT you'll find one of them. But there are one or two others as well.

Another option which will fit straight on is a Fleetstar tank, also used for B25 1070.
Pm me if you want to go down that route.

Thanks for the response.  An interesting video, I didn't realise how much skill and time went into forming a new steel tank.  I've hopefully managed to purchase a second hand one from the USA via ebay.com and I'm presently awaiting delivery.

Keep the old GRP tank, they can be repaired. Many years ago I repaired a Bultaco tank. Its the same method as boat repairs, sand back a large area to full depth then layer up patches starting small and getting bigger so every patch binds to the base material.
