Title: Smiths rear wheel speedo drive

Hopefully someone can help. Is the rear wheel speedo drive supposed to thread onto the rear axle or just slide on and be held in place with the nut?

Slide on an held with nut. Be sure to line the two drive dogs up as the slots of these got bent from being done up with the dogs not in the slots.

Thank you for confirming. Mine is a tight fit and has to be threaded on, so something isn't correct.

Usually the nut squashes the metal around the hole. I had this problem on my Velocette. Just run a file around the hole to open it slightly.
