Putting my S30 back together and think I might have a ring in spacer on the foot rest through bolt, if any one has a spacer out or can take some measurements for me it would be appreciated.....the spacer in question is on the left side between the gearbox mount plate and the frame, I would appreciate length and diameter.... The one I have the bore is a lot bigger than the through bolt
Hopefully attached drawing shows the spacer in question
Thanks
I'm not sure what a ring in spacer is, but the lefthand footrest spacer is Part No. 24-8198, illustrated on page 127 of the 1930 Parts Book.
It looks a bit like an exaggerated cotton reel. The larger diameter ends are 1 1/4" dia, length is 1 7/16" and ID will be clearance on 7/16". The inner portion is 1 11/16" diameter. It has a peg set into one end, to locate with the Footrest Positioning Plate, Part No. 24-8192. This allows you to adjust the height of the footrest.
The plate is an arch shape, I think just under 1/4" thick....bit difficult for an old git like me to measure in situ, but it will be the same thickness as the depth of the rebate in the frame lug. It fits on first, against the lug.
It has 3 holes in it to locate with the peg.
I hope this helps.
Steve; in Oz and Kiwi slang a "ring in" is an (often inferior) substitute; e.g. in rugby - the useless full back was a last minute ring in.
Here's the foot peg on my 1929 - looks like a spacer has been welded on. Diameter of the larger end is 3 cm. The face has a series of holes into which a small peg on the frame locates to allow setting of different footpeg positions.
Cheers, Bevan.
