Title: C15 clutch rollers
Post by: rhyatt on 04 Jul, 2025, 11:03
The book says 24 rollers in the clutch hub , but this is still room for certainly 1 more and still have room.
Any reason why I shouldn't make it 25 please??

Hi,

Have you actually fitted a 25th one?

Dave.

yes - 25 rollers each 3/16"
and this leaves 1/2 a roller gap

Hi,

I would think that it leaves enough space for grease/oil in use.  Why is 24 specified?  We may never know.

Dave.

In all the parts sheets it says 24.
But as you say, as long as there's free shuffling room for them , should be fine.

BSA originally specified 24 rollers, later changing that to 25.
There's still plenty of space with 25 rollers to not produce any binding. Therefore I always fit 25, not that it makes much difference either way.
