My 1963 Golden Flash has not been taken for a run yet after being unused for a long time as waiting for DVLA.
I notice when starting and running engine for a short while there is an oil weep from head gasket.
This is more noticeable when shining torch at the head gasket.
Will this get worse?
Should I replace head gasket?
Hi Mikey, if you have a "sandwich" type head gasket, you could try checking the torque settings on the head bolts. If they are tight, chances are the head will have to be removed anyway. If yours has a solid copper gasket, the chances are its hardened with age and will need to be removed and annealed. If you're not familiar with this process, it simply involves being heated cherry red all over and plunging into clean cold water which makes the copper soft. Worth putting a straight edge across the mating surfaces and check for any damage. Good luck.
