Title: Bsa B series frame
Post by: Geoffduke on 30 Jun, 2025, 17:09
Have a B series frame that someone has removed the centre stand lugs from. Can anybody point me in the right direction to get them replaced? Please. I am in Swansea. 07508744971

These would normally be attached to the gearbox mounting plates.  These are usually easily located on ebay.

On the swinging arm frames there are two lugs that sit on the rearmost cross rail on the frame, pointing backwards.
The angle of the lugs (and their strength) is pretty crucial to the stand working properly.
If doing a full resto I would do a dry build putting it on wheels.
Get your centre-stand with correct spacing tube and through bolt, offer it up with the lugs made up and tack them on.
When you have everything fitting properly tear it down and weld properly before full paint job.

Thanks both. i have tried once. thought i had it right, assembled the whole bike, pushed it off the centre stand to take it down off the bench, and the stand fouled against the back of the gearbox plates, which I had not considered when working with the bare frame. so the stand wont go up!  so bike is now completely stripped again to a bare frame. so the lugs have to be positioned precisely or it wont work. thanks for the advice, i will persevere!

There is a fully dimensioned drawing of the 54-56 frame in the Members Area (Library) of the website which might help you (assuming you're a member!) ...see https://www.bsaownersclub.co.uk/member/get-draw/roll-3/42-4334-42-4367

thanks for the help all. have now sorted it. Phil Pearson Gold Star parts supplier has a jig that will enable correct placing of the lugs. apparently its a regular job for him as ex race Gold Stars often have lots of unnecessary bits cut off!?!
