Title: C15 clutch cable route
Post by: DAVE BRADY on 18 Jun, 2025, 18:24
Hi,

Has anyone worked out the best route for the clutch cable on a '62 C15?
It is not the best design and inevitably ends in a tight turn.

From the lever , across the fork top cap, down towards the front engine bolt , around the nearside of the cylinder and downwards and across but under the rear engine bolt towards the off side inner gear case hole for entry

Hi,

Thanks.  I will see how that works. The PO ran it under the tank and down through by side of the battery and had put it through the grommet for the alt. and ign. wires - this was very tight.
It then curved quite tightly under the rear bolt mount to the case.  Allowing it to run to the rear of the battery should give abetter curve to the back of the case so perhaps another option.

It also relies on the vaguely of the length of supposedly correct cables.
I had to take a small amount off the inner .the cable as it was sold used all of the lever end adjustment , despite adjusting the pushrod

Hi,

The cable is fine as it has been in use.  Going through the grommet made the final curve a bit tight.
I am also considering making hole in the outer timing cover to give access to the clutch arm so that replacing the cable does not require removal of the kick start etc.
I have seen this done and blanking grommet does not look too out of place.
