Title: BSA A65 head oil feed pipe
Post by: Steveh1964 on 12 May, 2025, 16:12
Hopefully not to much of a silly question but need to know. Is there an easy way to check the head oil / oil feed pipe is functioning correctly? Just worried oil is actually going where it should. (Head seemed very hot after 12 mile ride!) many thanks...

Hi,

For a basic test slacken the oil union at the head and turn the engine over.  Either start it or take the plugs and kick.  Oil should leak out as it reaches the head.  It may take a few kicks to get the oil up there.  The only definite way is to take the rocker cover off and do the same thing. Oil should drip out of the right hand end of the rockers shafts.  There are oil ways in the rockers themselves so oil should drip from the ends of the rockers as well.

Dave.
