Title: Fitting (Indian) metal tank to B44 - how many rubbers?
Post by: AndrewB44 on 10 Mar, 2025, 18:33
Hey all,

So I'm upgrading my fibreglass tank to steel, have bought an Indian one which is okay, although the fuel filter threads took some re-tapping. Am I right in thinking it just mounts via:

Two side rubber grommets at the headshock, pressed into the frame

The centre rubber / bolt assembly

A single horse-shoe style rubber at the rear (40-8121) as per the manual, or should it have another of these near the front to stop the front of the tank vibrating on the top of the frame toptube?

Stupid Q I know, but the tank seems to have a lot of movement when mounted (likely due to it being an aftermarket copy).

Thanks all,
Andrew

Hi,
My 1968 B44 has the 2 frame rubbers at the headstock and 2 horseshoe rubbers, one at the seat end and the other towards the headstock.
