Title: top end changed on B31 ??
Post by: rustyboots on 27 Feb, 2025, 18:51
Hi all
it has been suggested that the top end may have  been changed on my bike for a B33 one.
Is there anyway of telling without dismantling.

TIA
Mark

The short answer. No! You will need the head off to measure the bore. A B31 should make about 75 if a good one. A B33 about 82. Maybe a bigger carb.

Casting numbers may be visible on head and barrel which will give a means of identification of components, numbers are often on base flange of barrel, and have seen them on the fins of the head near plug, but unsure if they are all at that location
However I have seen examples wbere paint, corrosion or simply poor casting renders them indecipherable
