Title: A65 Riders LH foot peg
Post by: JeffW on 21 Feb, 2025, 11:15
Hi,  I've recently bought my first classic bike, a 1967 A65L which has had a 1972 engine installed at some time in the past.

I'm in the process of recommissioing it and need to get inside the primary drive cover to get the clutch working but one of the allen screws is blocked by the LH peg.  The nut holding this in position doesn't want to move so I would like to confirm whether it's a LH or RH thread before I start stripping the thread on the stud.

Thanks for any advice, Jeff

The nut 'should' be a 7/16" x 20 TPI LH thread (BSA part no. 29-5839). HTH

Hi,

Once the nut and splined washer is off, the footrest could be really tightly held on the taper.  You may need to use a block of wood and a lump hammer to free it off.

Dave.

Thank you both for the advice.  It seems to be a 3/4" nut, but given how much on the bike isn't as expected i'm not surprised by that.
