Title: C15 compression test
Post by: DAVE BRADY on 16 Feb, 2025, 08:23
Hi,

Does anyone know what reading I should get when testing C15 compression?  Standard compression.

Dave.

Hi,

7.5 x 14.7 gives 110.25.  I got a reading of 105 so it should be fine.

You're in the right area,
They're soft to turn over certainly

The CR X 14.7 doesn't give a good accurate reading though. It's more complex than that.

Hi,

What should it be then for 7.5 compression?  Unlike A65 manuals there is nothing in the C15 blurb.

Most car engines I used to test were in the area of 150.
Agreed the cr of your average car engine was higher than a c15 .
I suppose a leak test is the next , but if your c15 is running well , then that's the main thing.

Hi,

It is a recent acquisition so just going through it to see what is what.  It is a runner and looks decent so after a few tweaks it should be fine.

Just be precise when checking valve clearances , the owners handbook is clear instructions.
Don't just use tdc

Hi,

Thanks.  I have the RR books that came with it to refer to as well.  If I remember from having a B40 the inlet push rod should be just able to be rotated to set the exhaust and vice versa.
