Title: 1952 M20 Head bearings
Post by: watts on 15 Feb, 2025, 13:45
As I dismantle the bike there are more and more curious things.

It has had a tapered roller bearing fitted, but it looks wrong or maybe it is just how it is.

Should it be proud? It is seated correctly.

Thanks

most "off the shelf" taper bearings that fit will be too wide and stand proud. The only problem is the gap that appears when fitting the headlamp brackets (ears) as the yolks are  then further apart.

There are some suppliers of bearings specifically for this application which are a better fit. I bought some several years ago but can't remember where. I'm sure someone here will be able to point you in the right direction. (maybe SRM ?)
