Hello
I have a 1952 M20 which has a Type 3 front brake (Draganfly name) which has the centre stay mount inline with fork leg and only on stay mounting point for front and rear stays. Does anyone know the part number for the forward stay?
Or do I modify a later on with a hammer!
Thanks
Matthew
Not my bike a picture of the web for illustration.

That does not look right at all, I feel sure that if you had he correct hub you would see that there is another mounting point at the front, take a look at the parts book in the info section.
It does look correct. I built e very early B31 exactly the same. Had to make my own stays. Not hard with some tube and 2 spanners as a swage tool.
I'm sure there should only be the central Y bracket and the rear stay on these forks
Hello All
Thank you for your help.

It may come to that. Do you have any pictures because the centre stay is an issue the mounting bolts are in line with the leg. I am not sure if I should fit the centre stay around the 'waist' on the curd so it sin line or keep the it where it is and add a 'fishplate' to the leg. The guard that was fitted (ish) and is rather 'Heath Robinson'. I will try and work out how to add photo this. Thank you
That's the (useless) 7" front brake and what would appear to be an Ariel front mudguard. The fork sliders should have a mudguard stay mounting lug in front of the wheel spindle for the front stays. Mine (51) has both front and lower stays plus the central Y piece going to the upper slider mounts.
Bit of a mix-and-match going on here.
Also, why does there appear to be a bolt and washer fitted to the end of the wheel spindle? I can't magnify the pic enough to see exactly what it is.
Yes the guard is wrong, which is the issue, the Y makes sense.
But all the images I see do not have that.
The fork is correct for early A7 B31/M20 etc Draganfly refer to it as a type 3.
The forward stay comes over the leg and fixes to the rear lug with rear stay.
As in the picture attached.
The previous picture is a bit odd but shows the stay which think is correct.
Thanks
I have found a better picture of the front guard stays.
It is the front and middle ones.
Thanks
Those two twins are the earlier long-stroke model, and judging by the number plate, are 1947. BSA changed quite a few things when the later models came out.
I have a 1951 ST and a 1951 ZB32 Goldie and both have the stays mounted to fore and aft lugs on the sliders, not as in the pics.
Hello V500
There was some variation but this type I have was fitted between 1947-55 and A/B/M models but probably not all. My problem is trying to identify the part number for the front and middle stay.
Thanks
Even if you did find out the part no's I suspect that you'd be incredibly lucky to actually find some. Maybe try making them?
Hello
I have part numbers now, but as you say Im sure I will not find them,
Alternatively change the for leg bottoms, brake plate and axel!
I suspect later fork bottoms and 7" brake should be compatible.
Thanks
Matthew
I would think the brake plate etc would be fine, just change the fork bottoms.
Thank you
Matthew
