Title: Starfire Exhaust Diameters
Post by: Beesy on 03 Feb, 2025, 20:48
Hi All.

I have a 1969 Starfire fitted with the usual low level exhaust. I want to change it to a high level exhaust on the left hand side.

Looking around it appears there are two different diameters. 1 3/8 & 1 1/2. Who knew?

My question is, is there an easy way to tell which one I need without taking the exhaust off and measuring inside the port?

Use a vernier to measure the out side of pipe.

All B25 exhaust pipes are 1,3/8" od, unless yours is a non standard item with an exhaust port which has been opened out to suit?
Some of the original hi level pipes and the late 1970 low level pipe were swaged out to 1,1/2" for the last few inches at the silencer end to allow a silencer which was common to the  twins (which used that size) to be fitted.

I see. So it's not the Head end of the pipe they're referring too but the silencer end.

Thanks for clarifying. Much appreciated.
