Can anyone tell me if the nut holding the front brake plate should be tight against the drum or just finger tight please, I cant seem to find any information on this.Magic Mike.

Hi,

The centre nut holding the brake plate should be very tight.  If it comes loose during use it is very difficult to tighten it without removing the wheel.
Although there should not be any play between the brake plate and the spindle it is worth ensuring that it is all centralised by applying the brake by hand and then tightening the nut.
Obviously the brake plate must rotate freely with fouling the drum after tightening.
