Hi again everyone I am having a big problem getting my 1958 DBD34 on the centre stand and it appears to be standing on tip toe instead of the flat on the stand I have welded a rod on to it to help with locating when needed but there really was not much point in doing so as I need 2 men and a boy to get it up on it can anyone make any suggestions as to what is wrong, my swinging arm super rocket used to roll on the stand easily and a heavier bike, many thanks Chris
Great bike, I see the Mikuni, Superleggera top yoke are nice touches for a bike to be used.
The rear mudguard hockey stick looks to have been mounted in a stranke way as it usually has two bolts holding it to a plate that you can see behind the shock absorbers Your plate seems inverted? Was it a rebuild/resto?c
I agree lifting onto the stand is tricky and needs technique of using momentum and lifting the back end up as the same time. I fitted a side stand for that reason but always put the back away on its centre stand.
A standard GS centre stand would not have the roll on lever, as you say. I have seen people add them and I don't think they affect ground clearance (the plate on my side stand certainly does and will get some more attention from my grinding disc soon!). I presume that the c/s stud and distance tube are in good order and greased?
Do you have a lifting handle on the right hand side. I suspect the answer is no as the front part of the loop fits to the top mount of the rear shock and the other onto the rear mudguard mounting plate (that will not be there on yours as the plate is hidden behind the shock absorber).
Here is the handle on mine:

Do you have a pic of the nearside of your bike?
I think they all stand on there tip toes .IMG_20200817_160338 copy (1) copy.jpg
I have attempted to show a pic of my lifting handle and rear stay mounting I hope it works anyway I am not even sure it is fitted correctly but if wrong please advise on how to fix and where I have messed up, unfortunately the rear guard is an Indian remake which will be changed as soon as I get it running correctly, I am having problems with the Mikuni the jets are clear but it will only rev on choke so going to try a larger pilot jet, anyway many thanks for your replies and any suggestions gratefully received Chris
Chrisf . mine is fitted a bit different to yours , but who knows , one of them might be right .
Actually your handle does not look too far off on that side in your latest picture.
How come the right hand side bracket is totally hidden by shock absorber in your original post pic?
The lifting handle usually sits like the pics by Ducati2242 and mine outside the mudguard brackets but doubt it makes much difference.
They do sit on the tips of the stand.
Have you put some shots of grease into the stand tube?
The Mikuni issue is usually a blocked pilot jet due to dried up fuel residue. If you remove the pilot jet, drown it in commercial carb/intake cleaner and blow it out that should work (obviously remembering the basic screw setting). I've got a 1036 concentric and 930 concentric on mine and both have had this issue too. It's the reason why most people empty their tanks and drain the carbs during periods of storage/winter lay off.
The reason you could not see the the top bracket is because it was not there in that pic the one I have shown is recent, they were missing when I bought the bike and it had super rocket stays with the arrowheads
