Title: No oil return
Post by: briand2 on 02 Nov, 2024, 01:28
Me again, As some of you might know I have had problems with no oil returning, I have taken the oil pump off and there is no oil coming out from the crankcase oilway, shouldn't it pour out with the pump removed?

I would have thought that oil would , by gravity , exude from the supply hole.
Is there an anti drain valve fitted.

Hi,

Is this an A10 or an A65?
Oil should ooze out of the oil ways as there should be some from the pump operating and filling the oil ways.  If there is no oil then there is a problem.  is there any oil in the sump?
Use an oil can to push oil through to the tank. The feed should have some resistance as you will be pushing against the oil in the tank.  The return should have no resistance and you should be able to easily get oil back up to the tank. Any airlock will be displaced and oil should run from the tank.

A basic question but have you got the oil pipes connected the right way? A10s have 'F' and 'R' stamped on the case whereas on the A65 the oil pipes have to be crossed and on later models the feed pipe is a slightly bigger diameter.

Dave.

Hi Dave, It's an A10, It is a real mystery to me, I'm quite sure the pipes are the right way round as someone on here confirmed I had them right i.e Pipe from union on casing marked 'F' to the lower union on tank although this does confuse me because the upper union has 'Feed' pipe to rocker box?? So is this right?

Rockers are fed from the oil return not the feed. So is correct.
