Title: Fuel proof paint for chainguard
Post by: Barnsey on 27 Oct, 2024, 10:18
Hi All,

Like a chunk of the black bits on my bike, the chainguard looks to have been painted with Hammerite.  Unfortunately, exposure to fuel leaking from the carb has stripped the paint off the front of it.  Can anyone recommend a half decent engine paint to spray paint it with?  I have been using Halfords Black enamel but it isn't petrol proof.

Try spraying over your black with a petrol proof lacquer. I use Halfords a couple of misting coats does the job.

Okay thanks!  I found a can of lacquer on Amazon.  Annoying that my local Halfords has closed down.
It looks like the big A is driving them out of business!
