Hi all, I have been looking at a Gold Star, with some unusual Stamped letters in the casing below the engine number, I have spoken to some Goldie 'aficionados' namely Phil Pearson and the Gold Star club registrar, who have both never seen this before, can anyone shed any light on what the 'BSC' means please???
I don't think anyone at the BSA factory stamped BSC on that crankcase.
It is possible that it is an owners initials or could be the initials of a dealer. But who stamped and when it was stamped it is a mystery which may never be solved.
Could BSG be the initials of Toronto dealer Brown Sports and Cycle?
Try asking on the U.S. forum .https://www.britbike.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/forum_summary
Probably someone who did some work on the engine at some point in the past. No biggie really.
A 'Gold Star' to JulianS!
After some research through the Gold star owners club I discovered that the bike was dispatched from the factory in 1959 to.....?
Yep, you guessed it, Browns Sports and Cycles of Toronto! I checked them out and they are still trading so I emailed them with the story and pictures and they contacted me almost straight away to say yes, they did indeed stamp the case with BSC, their company initials!
Many thanks Julian!
