Title: another silly question, colour
Post by: rustyboots on 01 Oct, 2024, 02:53
Hi all
as far as dvla is concerned, what determines the colour of a bike please, i have checked out two bikes for sale,
one is 100% gold, down as black on dvla,
one is green body with black frame, down as black on dvla,
Thanks

It's just whatever DVLA have bee told, usually by the registering dealer. They do have a limited "palette" so some of the more exotic descriptions won't be accpeted.

I always tell them the colour of the tank.

I register the colour on the V5 as being the colour of the frame and the main colour of the rest, say red and black, but when i make a bike up out of different coloured parts and so as to not look for parts of the same colour i register the bike on the V5  as multicoloured. Not had a problem at DVLA yet.

it only matters if the gentlemen of the constabulary checks. the important things on the V5 is the frame number and the registered keeper is riding or can name the keeper if stopped. oh and the right class is recorded when they discover no MOT and tax.
